Gov. Abbott, Lt. Gov. Patrick Take Oath of Office
Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick were sworn into office Tuesday amidst a day of speeches, parades, balls and barbecue in
Austin. Abbott becomes the 48th governor of Texas and Texas’ first governor
since Rick Perry took the office in 2000. Patrick replaces the man he defeated in the Republican primary for the position, David Dewhurst.
